Want to go to school during your vacation? Here's a list of some of Scotland's premier whisky schools.
Established in 1881, Bruichladdich offers a four-day, hands-on learning experience. You will work alongside the Bruichladdich craftsmen, gaining exposure to every aspect of the whisky-making process. At the end of the session, a final exam will further test your knowledge.
The Isle of Jura Distillery offers five days of classes and guided tastings designed to teach you about Jura's heralded whisky heritage. You will also have the opportunity to fill a 100-liter cask of your creation that will be stored at the distillery for a minimum of ten years and bottled at a time of your choosing.
During this five-day course, you will actually work in Scotland's only distillery to carry out 100% of the whisky-making process on-site.
Established in 1817, Bladnoch is a traditional farm distillery using no computerized distilling methods. At this three-day school, you will learn all aspects of whisky making through hands-on and classroom instruction.
The three-day course at this private malt distillery allows you to follow the production process as it occurs. As part of the program, nine liters of the spirit you helped create will be bottled for you upon maturation.
